Our Ready for Reading teachers are at the heart of all we do, working tirelessly to level the playing field in the underserved rural community of Rwinkwavu.
Jean Marie Habimana joined Ready for Reading in 2013 after graduating from University in Rwanda with an IT degree. Every day, because of his boundless energy and passionate commitment, people learn to read and write, use a computer, get homework help, are guided in finding academic and job opportunities and through his caring mentorship, feel a sense of belonging, gaining self-esteem and confidence.
“Ready for Reading opened my eyes to see how education is the key to everything. Literacy classes are giving adults the tools to participate in the economic development taking place in Rwinkwavu. Afterschool programs are providing a safe, structured environment for local children. RfR is truly a beacon of light, providing a community hub where children and adults learn, engage, enjoy and thrive.”
