Ready for Reading breaks down barriers to literacy and education for preschoolers to grandparents. We change attitudes, removing the stigma of adult illiteracy, encouraging support of children’s education, giving people the tools to compete in the emerging local job market and instilling the idea that reading is a powerful key to life-long learning, the foundation for increased income, health care and future success.

Ready for Reading harnesses the emerging culture of reading using creative storytelling, popular music and basketball programs and community supported literacy and cultural events in our 300 seat, outdoor amphitheater to encourage participation in a variety of programs; Open Library, mothers, girls and boys LitClubs,  literacy, IT and life skills training, digital reading, after school enrichment classes and preschool.
